Veterinary is one of the fascinating field attracting a large number of people. As many of them are not aware of the working style and culture of the veterinary. So, there are some people who are able to diverge the eyes towards the veterinary profession by explaining what does veterinary means or what they do. As most of the people are attracted to web series for passing their time in this COVID 19 lockdown situation why shouldn't we go for some productive web series? These web series and films teach many concepts of veterinary sciences, as well to the students and also to those who love veterinary but don't have a vet degree without any restrictions for watching these movies and web series. Patal Lok one of the indigenous web series is based on a character who loves a dog and gives a different plot to the whole web series. With the tremendous help of my batchmate Dr. Atul Pratap Singh I am able to complete this blog. A special thanks to him. This blog is a little bit special as you will able to see a youtube video on a youtube channel known as " The Palleidoscope " run by Dr. Pallabi Ghosh.



TV/ WEB Series

1. The Vet Life
Having 7.9/10 IMDB rating consisting of 35 episodes. This TV series is hosted by Animal Planet. Basically, it is a story of three vets who open their own clinic in Houston city. The three vets become good friends during their graduation at Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine. It is considered one of the very interesting TV series of Animal Planet

2. The Bionic Vet
One of the coolest TV series hosted in 2010 with 6 episodes having 8.7/10 IMDB rating makes this series it's self unique. It consists of the story of Dr.Noel Fitzpatrick a renowned neuro-orthopedic surgeon of England. The TV series is hosted by BBC documentary television.

3. The Incredible Dr. Pol
With an 8.6/10 IMDB rating, the National Geographic channel is hosting this TV series. Dr. Pol having 20,000 patients treating mainly large animals in rural Michigan. He works for 14 hours a day using all types of concepts of medicine as well as common sense for the best treatment of his patients. This TV series has 16 seasons with 12 episodes per season.

4. Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet
The highest IMDB rating TV series hosted by Animal Planet. It is obvious with the IMDB rating that this TV series has something different. 8.9/10 rating matters a lot. Basically, the TV series consists of 04 seasons having 58 episodes. Produced by Double Act, "Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet" is Animal Planet's most-watched series of 2017. Dr. Jeff is a mobile vet providing mobile veterinary treatment with wild challenges.

5. Dr. Dee: Alaska Vet
The story is based on Dr. Dee and her husband Ken who spend their most of time in remote villages to provide low-cost spay and neuter clinics, as well as provide medical care to the local animals. Dr. Dee: Alaska Vet is hosted by the Animal Planet channel with a 7.9/10 IMDB rating. The whole TV series comprises of 2 seasons and 17 episodes.

6. Dr. K's Exotic Animal ER
The Remedy TV series with 08 seasons having 70 episodes narrates the life of Dr. Susane Keller. She used to treat exotic animals in her clinic located in Deerfield Beach, Florida. With a 7.9/10 IMDB rating, this series is meant for those who have a keen interest in the treatment of Exotic animals.

7. Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet
Nat Geo Wild hosting story of Dr. Oakley the only vet of Yukon, a mom of three daughters with a great sense of humor with her excellent in treatment and holding her household activities. Basically, she is treating wildlife in her area with enormous enthusiasm. The TV series holds an 8.1/10 IMDB rating comprising of 08 seasons and 63 episodes.

8. Emergency Vet
One more TV series hosted bt Animal Planet with 8.1/10 IMDB rating depicts the real story event of Alameda East Veterinary Hospital. The whole lifestyle is elaborated in 76 episodes. It is considered one of the first TV series on vet with huge popularity in the USA.

9. All Creatures Great and Small
Based on the name of this TV series we can correlate the story with a vet. Here is a story of James Harriot who is newly graduated from a vet school and accepts a job offer raised by his fellow bachelor Siegfried Farnon. The story show revolution after the second world war when penicillin is introduced in the medicine world, machinery replaced the work of large animals and ownership transfer from large animal to small animals due to active urbanization. With 7 seasons and 90 episodes securing 8.3/10 IMDB rating makes this TV series a unique venture for BBC productions.

Movies & Documentaries

1. Doctor Dolittle
Doctor Dolittle is a movie based on a vet, Dr. John Dolittle. The movies have lots of comedy scenes and basically based on the ability of vet to interact with other animals after he losses his dog. The movie is released in 1998 and holds 5.4/10 IMDB ratings. Must watch the trailer of the movie you will judge yourself whether to watch this movie or not. The movies grab Blockbuster Movie Awards for the best actor comedy, supporting actor and supporting actress 1999.

2. Cowspiracy
The documentary was directed by Kip Andreson and Keegan Kuhn, basically documentary deals with the impact of agriculture on the environment. The main environmental concerns are global warming, water use, deforestation, and ocean dead zone. IMDB rating is 8.3/10 and this documentary is hosted by Netflix.

3. Our Planet
The David Attenborough documentary based on nature doc series hosted by Netflix. The series addresses the issues conservation while featuring these disparate animals in their respective regions. The documentary is telling overall human impacts on all living creatures. The documentary gained 9.3/10 IMDB rating which attracted a large audience.

4. Earthlings
Earthlings are covering the pet stores, puppy mills, and animal professions. It is a hidden camera recording of day to day life activities of some of the largest industries rely on the animals. The film not only deals with animals it made parallel attention to racism, sexism, speciesism, and many more. 8.7/10 IMDB movie was narrated by Joaquin Phoenix.

Jumanji: The Next Level, Satyamev Jayate and Patal Lok keep telling us the role of vets in society, their respect in the society on cinema level, how all animals are important, and how an animal can save your life and make a big change...
